The Mixo blues scale

I got very excited when I came across this scale. As far as I am concerned it's jazz and blues combined in one scale. As the name suggests it is a combination of the mixolydian scale (or the 5th mode of the major scale) and the minor blues scale. It's the perfect scale for playing over a dominant chord in a bluesy/jazzy way.

I don't think it's a scale to try and learn position by position as is the traditional method used for most scales. I would play the minor pentatonic scale over the blues you normally play and then try and add some of the notes from the mixoscale as extra notes - so you gradually incorperate them into your playing.

An example of what I mean can be seen below.

If you are playing the G minor blues scale there is a bluesy / jazzy chromatic run you can slip into a solo starting on the A or even descending from the D note.
Also start playing the A note a bit. It's the 9th note and can add a little warmth to your solo.

Diminished scale

Again I wouldn't learn this position by position I would learn a few riffs from the internet and use the fretboard above to try it for different chords. Below is a lick sequence that creates a very familiar diminished sound and can be played over a Cdim chord or even a C7.
